  • Stolen cuz it's so good

    Stolen from here: http://www.datingish.com/733596237/guess-what-calling-me-your-girlfriend-wont-kill-you-/

Lately I’ve been having a lot of trouble with “labeling.” Apparently, there’s a trend amongst college males that involves a staunch refusal to commit.

Yesterday, one of these fine male specimens relayed the following delightful sentence to me: “Well, I mean, we can date, but let’s not be… together, you know what I mean?”

    No. I don’t.

That’s like saying, “I want you to eat this bowl of Count Chocula, but do it gradually so you don’t get too attached. Then don’t even bother to drink the sweet, sweet chocolate-y milk that remains.”

Clearly, I shouldn’t be writing this article over breakfast...

Anyway, I love language, and fully believe in the power of words, so I get it if someone is uncomfortable calling me his girlfriend. I’m not comfortable, however, with the fact that there is no acceptable (that is, not incredibly offensive or cumbersome) alternate name for “girl who isn’t my girlfriend but not my friend either and yeah we totally do it sometimes.”

I’ve heard quite a few attempts at labeling that sort of thing:

    The ever-so-elegant, “fuck buddies.”
The ever-so-awkward, “girl I go out with.”
And, my personal favorite: “Comfy fun time friend.”

Truly, there’s no acceptable way to refer to your… comfy fun time friend.

Let’s say though, that for simplicity’s sake, that there was a way. Let’s say that this person could be accurately referred to as your “panda.”

Now, it would be awesome if everyone had a panda. Ideally, having a panda is the best possible situation. Ideally, people who are each other’s pandas just have a lot of sex, are wonderfully kind to one another, don’t fight, and eventually part amicably.

Unfortunately, in my experience, that never works.

Inevitably, one person always gets too attached. Then, someone gets hurt.

That’s right: no matter what, in any romantic endeavor, someone is going to get hurt, at least temporarily, and at least just a little bit.

So why are some people so afraid of labeling? No matter what you call it, it still ends up being a commitment. It still ends up being serious. It’s never just “casual” when someone else’s feelings are involved.

If it looks like a girlfriend, walks like a girlfriend, and has sex with you like a girlfriend, it’s your girlfriend. Not your panda.

  • "On a Ride on the Rings of Saturn"

When you take me into the threshold of your arms and gaze deep within the abyss of my eyes, you pull me closer to squeeze the emptiness that I feel and carry me into the beyond, passed the known skies.

With featherless wings, we fly with the cosmic winds - feeling the still breeze as it caresses our faces.  The ultra-violet rays from the scorching sun doesn't compare to the rhythmic beats of our hearts burning with passion and so we are unharmed like soft touches from Nasrines, velvet even.

We float above the majesty of the Milky Way.  We bear witness to galaxies light years away.  It is here, we embrace.  You whisper in my right ear, "In the realm of your soul, is pain.  You should feed your heart what it craves.  What it deserves.  Love."

"How I long to play and ride the rings of Saturn," I tell you.  I grab your hand and with the speed of lightening, shifting through dark matter, I take you around the starts, and dance upon the moons, passing by the red planet and twirling with Jupiter's storm.

We reach the one place I've dreamed about since I was a child.  Smile to smile, we race hand in hand toward the rings and when we get there, we begin an unforgettable adventure circling Saturn.  With ease, we glide through the 7 way passage dodging every boulder in our path.  Father and faster and up and down and sideway turns and twisting here and there and everywhere only joyous laughter slows us down, Nishaats all the way.

Never tiring round and round we go above and below the 7th ring, the last ring.  We finish.  Slowly but surely we return to our Earthly domain, catching our breath.  After a deep steady exhale, I whisper in to your right ear, "What I crave is what blinded me.  I can't see what I deserve.  To feed me is to take it one step at a time and one step can take forever.  My depth perception maybe imaginative right now but is' one step closer.  Though what I feel isn't love, it isn't pain either."

  • The End Days

    From Sahih Bukhari

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, "The Hour will not be established
    (1) till two big groups fight each other whereupon there will be a great number of casualties on both sides and they will be following one and the same religious doctrine,

    (2) till about thirty Dajjals (liars) appear, and each one of them will claim that he is Allah's Apostle,

    (3) till the religious knowledge is taken away (by the death of Religious scholars)

    (4) earthquakes will increase in number

    (5) time will pass quickly,

    (6) afflictions will appear,

    (7) Al-Harj, (i.e., killing) will increase,

    (8) till wealth will be in abundance ---- so abundant that a wealthy person will worry lest nobody should accept his Zakat, and whenever he will present it to someone, that person (to whom it will be offered) will say, 'I am not in need of it,

    (9) till the people compete with one another in constructing high buildings,

    (10) till a man when passing by a grave of someone will say, 'Would that I were in his place

    (11) and till the sun rises from the West. So when the sun will rise and the people will see it (rising from the West) they will all believe (embrace Islam) but that will be the time when: (As Allah said,) 'No good will it do to a soul to believe then, if it believed not before, nor earned good (by deeds of righteousness) through its Faith.' (6.158) And the Hour will be established while two men spreading a garment in front of them but they will not be able to sell it, nor fold it up; and the Hour will be established when a man has milked his she-camel and has taken away the milk but he will not be able to drink it; and the Hour will be established before a man repairing a tank (for his livestock) is able to water (his animals) in it; and the Hour will be established when a person has raised a morsel (of food) to his mouth but will not be able to eat it."

    (Book #88, Hadith #237)

  • Life within the Grave

    From Sahih Bukhari

    • Narrated Fatima bint Al-Mundhir: Asma' bint Al Bakr said, "I came to 'Aisha the wife of the Prophet (p.b.u.h) during the solar eclipse. The people were standing and offering the prayer and she was also praying too. I asked her, 'What has happened to the people?' She pointed out with her hand towards the sky and said, 'Subhan-Allah'. I said, 'Is there a sign?' She pointed out in the affirmative." Asma' further said, "I too then stood up for the prayer till I fainted and then poured water on my head. When Allah's Apostle had finished his prayer, he thanked and praised Allah and said, 'I have seen at this place of mine what I have never seen even Paradise and Hell. No doubt, it has been inspired to me that you will be put to trial in the graves like or nearly like the trial of (Masih) Ad-Dajjal. (I do not know which one of the two Asma' said.) (The angels) will come to everyone of you and will ask what do you know about this man (i.e. Muhammad). The believer or a firm believer (I do not know which word Asma' said) will reply, 'He is Muhammad, Allah's Apostle (p.b.u.h) who came to us with clear evidences and guidance, so we accepted his teachings, believed and followed him.' The angels will then say to him, 'Sleep peacefully as we knew surely that you were a firm believer.' The hypocrite or doubtful person (I do not know which word Asma' said) will say, 'I do not know. I heard the people saying something so I said it (the same).' "  (Book #18, Hadith #162)

    • Narrated Anas: The Prophet said, "When a human being is laid in his grave and his companions return and he even hears their foot steps, two angels come to him and make him sit and ask him: What did you use to say about this man, Muhammad ? He will say: I testify that he is Allah's slave and His Apostle. Then it will be said to him, 'Look at your place in the Hell-Fire. Allah has given you a place in Paradise instead of it.' " The Prophet added, "The dead person will see both his places. But a non-believer or a hypocrite will say to the angels, 'I do not know, but I used to say what the people used to say! It will be said to him, 'Neither did you know nor did you take the guidance (by reciting the Quran).' Then he will be hit with an iron hammer between his two ears, and he will cry and that cry will be heard by whatever approaches him except human beings and jinns."  (Book #23, Hadith #422)

    • Narrated Hisham's father: It was mentioned before 'Aisha that Ibn 'Umar attributed the following statement to the Prophet "The dead person is punished in the graves, hear you.' (35.22) that is, when they had taken their places in the (Hell) Fire.  (Book #59, Hadith #316) because of the crying and lamentation Of his family." On that, 'Aisha said, "But Allah's Apostle said, 'The dead person is punished for his crimes and sins while his family cry over him then." She added, "And this is similar to the statement of Allah's Apostle when he stood by the (edge of the) well which contained the corpses of the pagans killed at Badr, 'They hear what I say.' She added, "But he said now they know very well what I used to tell them was the truth." 'Aisha then recited: 'You cannot make the dead hear.' (30.52) and 'You cannot make those who are in their graves, hear you.' (35.22) that is, when they had taken their places in the (Hell) Fire.  (Book #59, Hadith #316)
